When it comes to deceiving and trickery, there was no one better at it than Victor Lusstig. He was the master of these areas. With more than 45 known identities, the excellent command of 5 different foreign languages, and nearly 50 arrests in the U.S. alone, the smart Victor could cheat even the brightest on the planet. His greatest performance was selling the Tour Eiffel in Paris. Twice.
Han van Meegeren was one of the most skilled art forgers of the past century, he forged a Vermeer paint so realistic that Herman Goring who was one of the fines art connoisseurs in Nazi Germany purchased it. His most famous forgery was Supper at Emmaus, painted in 1937 while living in the sunny south of France. This forgery was considered by some of the world’s foremost art experts as the most exquisite Vermeer they had ever examined.
Bernie Madoff’s sons tipped off federal authorities to huge investment scandal that broke in December 2008, when former NASDAQ chairman Bernard Madoff admitted that the wealth management arm of his business was an elaborate Ponzi scheme, which amounted to approximately US $50 billion. It was the largest investor fraud ever done by an individual. His actions have rocked a certain baseball team.
Rosie Ruiz achieved the 3rd best women’s time in the Boston Marathon and wasn’t even tired! That was a bad omen but she quickly explained: "I got up with a lot of energy this morning".
